Rally In The Rain To Reject SOBE Has Results in Youngstown, Ohio!

Updated: Aug 26, 2023

Citizens concerned about SOBE rallied outside the Mahoning County Courthouse on Wed Aug 23, 2023. It was a lively 30 minutes of chanting and holding signs and talking to media and passersby and 3 council people and the fire chief, etc. The 6pm news (WFMJ) on Tuesday reported the wrong site (SOBE) and luckily a friend heard it and told us and we called to correct it.

We were also told in separate phone calls that the council persons would enter at 21 W Boardman St. so we started setting up there. Sheriffs came out and told us we were in the wrong place so we moved to the front of the courthouse.

This news came out last night:

Committee to vote Thursday on resolution against SOBE plant

Youngstown city council's Environment, Climate and Sustainability Committee will put a measure before full council when it meets Thursday to mark what it calls a unified opposition to the proposed waste-to-energy plant. https://www.wfmj.com/story/49496065/committee-to-vote-thursday-on-resolution-against-sobe-plant.

A resolution is not binding but is a show of good faith and a move in the right direction.
